Wedding table linen includes table cloths, mats and napkins and these all play an important role in creating an attractive wedding table setting.
The wedding table linens can form the basis of a color scheme or the base on which the mood or theme is worked.
When hiring the linens there are some important considerations to keep in mind.
The size: whether it is square or round the perfect cloth should hang about half way down to the floor.
Always take with you the dimensions or your tables when you hire your table linen.
The fabric: Damask and embroidered linens look wonderful and are great for a traditional table setting. A textured light colored fabric is perfect for the modern wedding (see the video below).
Color and design: what will suit the room in which your reception is to take place? The answer usually depends on the china and color scheme of the room.
A strong patterned china looks best against a plain fabric that picks out one of the colors in the design, or on a pure white cloth.
China which is decorated in only two colors looks attractive on a cloth that uses the same two colors in a contrasting patern.
If the china is plain an attractive look can be achieved by placing it on a plain cloth in a contrasting color such as yellow on blue, black on white, or green on red.
A patterned cloth can also be used as a background for plain china.
If you already know the color scheme of your wedding, the bridesmaids dresses and have color samples of these take them with you when you hire your linen it will be easier to match the colors.
I would like to share with you a short video that I came across, it shows three very different tables settings all using different table linens.
Traditional table setting
A warm cosy look and feel.
Modern look table setting
The table cloth has a textured look.
Contemporary setting
A very modern look, no table cloth is used the glass ware is very modern and so is the table centerpiece.
