MY INEXPENSIVE WEDDING IDEAS...

After much searching I found a wedding cake design I liked so I took this picture to many different cake decorators and ended with varied quotes the lowest being $800 (you see it was a traditional fruit cake with rolled fondant icing and lots of intricate lace work which had to be hand piped in royal icing).

After the initial price shock, I decided to try my hand at making our wedding cake (after all I have made and decorated cakes for friends and family before).

So I did make ours for around $80, a three tiered rolled fondant cake just like the one in the picture.

Another way we saved was on the flower girls dresses (5 in all) because we purchased the dresses when we were on a holiday in Thailand ten months before our wedding.

The dresses cost us a grand total of $30, whereas if I had to purchase the dresses in my home town they all would have cost around $450.
