Step 1 You will need about 52 beads for this step. Thread a bead onto one of the wires. Twist a large loop with the bead inside it, so that the bead will move within the loop. From the other end of the wire place on another two beads, twist the second bead into a loop about 3 cm (1 inch) from the first wire loop (you will have one bead floating between the two loops). Continue to add beads and twisting every second bead into a loop and leaving the other bead floating. You should have about 23 – 25 loops. Remember to leave about 4cm (1 ½ inches) of wire from each end free to allow for clasp and fastenings.
Step 2 For the second and third gold wire lengths you will need about 30 beads for each. The beads will only be twisted in the loops as in the previous step, leave out the floating beads. You should get about 28 loops along each wire. Remember to leave about 4cm (1 ½ inches) of wire from each end free to allow for clasp and fastenings.
Step 3 Twist the three lengths of wire together using the flat nose pliers.
Step 4 Twist two strands of the beaded wire around each other about every 3 cm (1 inch) leaving the spaces between the twisted wire to sit open. Continue until the end, you may find that one of the strands will be shorter than the other, just trim off the excess in this case when you have finished twisting the strand together.
Step 5 Wrap the remaining beaded strand across the top of the two joined strands securing randomly and evenly at regular intervals. When finished the wire should all sit open rather than be twisted tightly, adjust the spacing if needed.
Step 6 Trim away some of the excess wire. On each end of the necklace thread on one clam clasp and one crimp, using the pliers press the crimp so that it closes, gently pull the clam clasp over the crimp so it will sit inside the clasp, using the pliers gently press the clasp shut. On one end clasp attach a jump ring and extension chain. On the other clasp attach a jump ring and parrot clasp.
