Easy to make wedding favors

Scroll Wedding Favors

A scroll favor is easy to make. These can look pretty on printed or parchment paper which you can purchase from a scrap booking store.

A scroll wedding favor can be a personal or a memorable way to celebrate your wedding day. A beautiful scroll favor at each place setting can have your personal message of thanks to your guests. Or you can let your guests know a donation has been made to a charitable organization in place of the traditional wedding favor.

There are several ways to decorate your scroll wedding favor; you can stamp an image onto the paper, use your computer to add a picture or select pre-printed paper.

When selecting the paper pick one that has a light background so that your message can be read easily. If you are not sure how it will look when printed, purchase one sheet and do a test page.

You can use an A4 sheet of paper for a large scroll favor or you can get two A5 scrolls (from one A4 sheet of paper) this is very economical and you will end up with a very cheap wedding scroll favor.

Using your chosen software (it could be a card making program, Microsoft Word or whatever you feel comfortable using) experiment on scrap paper with different font styles and colors until you are happy with the result.

Print out your message on your chosen paper and roll up with the message facing inside. To decorate the favor you could:

  • Tie with a ribbon.

  • Use plastic wedding rings found in craft stores.

  • Tie with a silk flower that has a wire stem.

  • Use a wine glass charm.

  • Make a paper ring.

  • Add a name tag.

  • Make a beaded ring using beading elastic.

  • Wrap with decorative cord.

  • Decorate with a feather butterfly.

  • Use a tassel.

  • Wax seal.

  • Decorative Stickers.

  • Use curling ribbon.

How to make a scroll favor using Microsoft Word 2003

  1. Open up Microsoft Word.

  2. Set your page orientation to landscape – this will give you two A5 scrolls.

  3. Draw two boxes using the rectangle shape on the bottom tool bar. These should look like the image below. Do a test print, before you go any further to make sure that both boxes are centered in each half of the page, with equal white spacing around the outside.

  4. Inserting an image.

    • Click inside one of the boxes so that the cursor is ‘flashing’ inside.

    • Click on Insert (found on the top tool bar), select Picture from the drop down box and then make your image selection from one of the choices.

    • When you have made your choice you may find that the image has disappeared (it is just sitting behind the box). To get the image to come to the front of the box, right click on the box and a tool box will appear, click on the word Order and then click on Send behind text, you should now be able to see the image.
  5. You will now need to move the image to where you want it. To do this right click on the image and a picture tool box will appear. Click on the text wrapping button (the one with the dog on it), you will be given a few choices click on the one that says behind text. You can now click on the image and drag it to where ever you want. Repeat the same steps for the other box. See below for an example.

  8. Proof read and make corrections if needed.

  9. Before you print a test copy, you will have to remove the box lines. To do this, click on the box and then go to the tool bar at the bottom of the word document, click on the paint brush (line color) and select no line (found at the top of the box). Repeat for the other box. The lines will now be invisible and will not appear when you print.

A wedding is vows
From the heart spoken sweetly.
A pledge of true love
That is forever unbroken.
A wedding is the start of a bright future life,
As two become one
Husband and Wife.

We are grateful for
Your presence here.

May God bless you,
As He has us
on our Wedding Day!

Love is patient and kind;
love is not jealous or boastful;
it is not arrogant or rude.
Love does not insist on its own way;
it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice at wrong,
but rejoices in the right.
Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.
Love never ends….
1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Thank you for sharing this special day with us.
