Satin Shoes

Dress up satin shoes for your flower girls by adding some beads.

The last thing that you want to do is spend a fortune on shoes that may be only worn once.

Keep the shoes simple and comfortable and at a cheap price. Add embellishments to them to make them a delight to wear.

Use flowers, ribbons, decorative trim and use a hot glue gun to fix them in place.

You can also hand stitch beading and other embellishments onto shoes which are covered with fabric such as satin.

Tip

Just as you would make sure that your shoes are comfortable for the wedding by wearing them in. Let the flower girls do the same. Or if you think that the flower girls shoes will get dirty by doing this, at least let them to bring along a pair of comfortable shoes which they can change into later.

Beaded Satin Shoes

The pictured shoes are what my daughter wore at her cousins wedding. These where plain shoes which were dressed up with seed beads. The seed beads have been hand stitched in place.

To do this lightly mark with a pencil or air fade away pen (available from dressmaking stores, this pen allows you to mark the fabric and after a time will simply disappear).

Then using beading thread and a fine straw needle (which will pass through the seed beads) thread the needle and secure the thread to one side of the shoe with a few back stitches.

Pick up three or four seed beads onto the needle and thread and stitch onto the marked line.

Continue doing this until the line has been completely covered with the seed beads and secure the end.

Repeat for the other shoe.
