Rose Heart Hanger

This Rose Heart is simple to make and would look great as pew decorations or even a door hanger.

It is made from two coat hangers. Use the colors to match your wedding theme or make it in all white for a romantic look.

Materials

2 soft wire coat hangers

Pliers

30 – 40 silk roses if you choose to have one flower type or 18 – 20 silk roses and 18 – 20 rose bud bunches (3 buds to a bunch) if you would like a mixed arrangement

Para film (florist tape)

wire cutters

1 meter of 15mm ribbon to match or contrast the flowers

Making the Rose Heart

  1. Straighten out the two coat hangers and trim them down to 29 inches (75 cm).

  2. Using pliers bend the wire carefully into a heart shape as shown in the diagram below.

  3. Wrap the wire with Para film (florist tape) until it is completely covered.

  4. Trim the stems of the roses to about 2½ inches (6cm).

  5. Position the first rose at the centre point of the heart by winding the stems around the wire and then cover the wire and stem with Para film.

  6. Place the next flower just touching the first one (alternate the flowers if using different flowers) and repeat until all of the wire has been covered.

  7. Cut a piece of ribbon 15 inches (40 cm) long and use it to make a hanging loop at the top the heart.

  8. Use the remainder of the ribbon to make a bow at the back of the centre point of the heart.

Approximate cost for this project ...$6.00

I was lucky enough to be able to purchase the roses for 50c a bunch which kept the cost down.
