Instructions to make Ring Bearer Pillow
- Create a square pattern by cutting out an 8½ inch (22cm) square from the heavy paper.
- Fold the ivory satin in half, with the right sides facing the inside and the wrong sides facing out.
- Use the lead pencil to trace the pattern onto the fabric.
- Pin the two layers together then follow the pencil mark and cut out two 8½ inch satin squares.
- Cut two 8½ inch (22cm) lengths of the 2 inch (5cm) wide white or ivory lace.
- Stitch the two lengths of lace to the right side of one satin square, placing them in the center, ½ inch (1.5cm) apart.
- Place the gold ribbon on top of the lace; keeping it centered stitch in place.
- Place the two satin squares on top of each other, with the right sides of the fabric facing each other.
- Pin the squares together along each edge.
- Using a ¼ inch (6mm) seam allowance, machine stitch around the square, leaving a 2 inch (5cm) opening on one side.
- Turn the satin square right side out through the 2 inch (5cm) opening.
Use the chopstick or other pointed object to turn out the corners of the square into a point, being careful not to push through the fabric. - Stuff the pillow with the polyester fibrefill and distribute evenly. Hand stitch the 2 inch (5cm) opening closed, using the white or ivory thread.
- Hand stich a length of the gold bead trim around the edge of the pillow.
To do this, first anchor some thread to the pillow, by running several stitches through the pillow seam. While holding the trim in place over the seam line, catch the first gold bead with the thread. Run the thread through the seam line to secure the trim in place, continue catching and stitching the trim at about every third bead until you have finished all four sides. - Using a needle and thread make a dimple in the center of the pillow by passing the needle and thread from the front to the back through all the layers of fabric and filling several times. Pull taut and secure.
- Find the centre point of the narrow gold ribbon and using a hot glue gun (or hand sew) the center of the ribbon to the centre of the pillow.
- Finally using a hot glue gun (or hand sew) the large gold button over the narrow gold ribbon
