The tradition of a grooms cake is an American one. Early wife’s tales said that a single woman guest could place a slice under her pillow and dream of her future husband.
Later in pioneer days, the groom’s parents baked cakes which were given to guests to enjoy on their way back home.
Today the groom wedding cake is smaller and less elaborately decorated than the wedding cake.
It is secretly arranged by the bride to give to the groom at the reception. Traditionally the cake was a fruit cake, but today it can be any flavor and decorated in any design to reflect the groom’s interests.
If you would like to have a groom wedding cake, there are several ways that it could be served: offer a slice with the wedding cake, send slices home with the guests or put it on a buffet table and the guests can help themselves. To view more images of cakes for the groom click here.
