Every bride has a preference to the type of gown sleeve they wear, so choose a style that you will be comfortable with and one that will compliment the gown.

Balloon

A very full, billowy sleeve that ends at the elbow.  It is important that this sleeve type is proportioned correctly, not only to the dress but also your height and weight, because they can look over done if not made correctly.

Bell

Bell Sleeves
A long sleeve that is tapered down the arm and then it flares at the wrist in the shape of a bell.   Often featured on medieval or Gothic dresses.

Capped

These gown sleeves are a dainty short, fitted sleeve that barely covers the top of the arm, this style looks best on toned arms.

Illusion

This sleeve is made from a sheer fabric or lace that contours the arm.   It is quite often decorated with beads and sequins.   This sleeve can be long or short giving a gown a formal look.

Bell Juliet (or leg of mutton)

Puffy at the shoulder and just below the elbow, and then fitted to the wrist.

 Fitted

The fitted sleeve hugs the arm from the shoulder to the wrist.

Poet

Fitted sleeve to the elbow and then full down to the wrist with ruffles or pleats at the ends.

Three Quater

These are fitted and end slightly below the elbow.  It is a comfortable sleeve that covers the arms and does not restrict movement.
